Description

Cantillon Gueuze Lambic 5% abv

Please note: Only 1 bottle per customer

The Lambic beers from the Cantillon brewery, which are conserved in oakwood barrels, are called "young" after one year, but they will reach their full maturity after three years. The young beers contain the sugars which are necessary for the second fermentation in the bottle. The three years old beers will contribute their taste and their flavour.

The main task for the brewer, however, is tasting. He will taste about ten Lambics from different barrels in order to select five or six which will be used for the Gueuze 100% Lambic presenting the typical characteristics of the beers from the Cantillon brewery.

The bottles are closed with a cork, capped with a crown-cork. They will remain horizontally in a cellar for a year on average, in order to allow the sugars to be converted into carbon dioxide (second fermentation in the bottle). The saturation of the beer is slow and natural. When the Lambic becomes sparkling, it is called Gueuze. At that moment, this crown-jewel of the Cantillon brewery will leave the cellar of the brewery and find its way to the cellars of the lovers of the traditional Gueuze.

We are committed to providing you with an excellent service, which includes delivering your goods in way which will not affect your order adversely. Most beers we sell are bottle-conditioned and will contain some sediment. We therefore would like to advise you to use the following guidelines on receipt of your goods:

  • Please open the box carefully and the correct way up (address label will be on the top of the box)
  • Check for any damage or broken glass.
  • In the unlikely event of any broken glass we would recommend to leave the broken glass in the box and only extract those bottles that are undamaged. Then dispose of the box, including broken glass, safely in an appropriate manner.
  • Do not open any bottles shortly after delivery. They are likely to be very volatile and cause spillage.
  • We recommend to leave the beers to settle for at least 6 hours, preferably for 24 hours.

We pride ourselves in high customer service levels and we want to ensure that your goods will be delivered to you in good condition. Any instances of goods being delivered below expectations, such as broken bottles, should be reported immediately on arrival but within 7 days, upon which we will issue a refund for the damaged bottles. This does not affect your statutory rights.

For deliveries to the USA please note that due to severe restrictions by courier companies, the maximum amount of liquid that can be sent is 75cl per consignment. Glasses and other items have no restrictions but please be aware these are packaged very well to avoid breakages, so postage can be high. Please contact us for an accurate quotation, as the current rates on our website allows for a large box, regardless of weight.
