Beautiful Beers, established in 2011 by René van den Oort, is dedicated to bringing some of of the World's finest beers to East Anglia. An independent shop, and a paradise for a wide range of beer-drinkers, René's thorough approach to business has stocked the shelves with an array of award-winning beers. Many have received special recognitions from CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ales), whilst respected critics such as Roger Protz and Jeff Evans have offered praise for many of the beers that René has chosen to supply.
René was born in The Netherlands, and settled in the U.K. in 1987. Throughout his time in Europe he worked in a variety hotels and restaurants, developing his knowledge of the world of catering, and most importantly, of beers. Upon his arrival in the U.K. he continued to pursue a life in catering, which culminated in creating The Bay Tree, a restaurant he ran alongside his wife for 9 years.
René has always brought his interest to good food, wine and beer to his professional career. In running his own restaurant he had the opportunity to develop his palate, particularly for beer, by trying & tasting a variety of beers from across the world. As the passion became more consuming, René saw the opportunity to turn it into a business venture, and so began Beautiful Beers.
Immediately apparent upon entering the shop, is René's vast knowledge, gained from years of experience within the catering industry, his own interests, and his multi-national past. The result is a carefully crafted environment, stocking over 400 varieties of beer.
The range covers mostly European countries, with a focus on beers from Belgium and The Netherlands. In addition, René also stocks a range of beers from the U.S.A., New Zealand and Australia, as well as some great craft beers from local East Anglian micro-breweries.
Situated on a characteristic street in the market town of Bury St. Edmunds, the shop offers a friendly environment, experienced advice, and an exciting, unrivalled range of Beautiful Beers.
